I am an Asian American that grew up in Warsaw, IN. My parent's emigrated from South Vietnam after the Vietnam War. I grew up in a very unique situation. I was influenced by Asian and Vietnamese culture, but I was also raised in the midwest American environment. I understand the value of hard work because I saw my parent's struggles in life and that humbled me to want more out of life.
All my life I was taught discipline and hard work thanks to my parent's Asian culture up bringing. By the age of 10 I received a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. I am also an identical twin. We grew up pushing each other to try and out do the other person. We were competitive in all aspects in life, If he got good grades I wanted better grades, If he played a sport I wanted to beat him in that sport. The feeling was mutual and we learned very fast how to push each other to achieve some of our wildest dreams in life. I went to high school at Warsaw Community High School. By the time my high school day's were over we were both 3 sport athletes.
There are so many things that has happened in my life that I just understand now, that things happen the way they do. I have learned everything happens for a reason and even some of the great defeats in my life were actually a blessing I would not know until a couple years after I experienced it. I went to Purdue University and I was able to graduate with a Financial Counseling and Planning degree.
With my Asian Culture influence, and the accountability of my twin brother; I was blessed with a very unique opportunity to achieve what ever I wanted to do in life as long as I stayed disciplined and understood where I came from. I believe life is all about possibilities and it is the way we think about life that we can truly understand our true desires in life. I am on a new journey and I hope I can help inspire other people that life is awesome and that we are blessed with everything that is given to us every single day and every single second.
